Animated GIF Support
#
KLWP and KLCK do support animated GIFs but this option has been hidden due to high battery usage of this feature, the capability will be enabled again as soon as i will find a way to do this efficiently without impacting battery. This said you can still enable GIFs in Kustom by doing the following:
“Application Blocked” error when trying to link Google Fit in KWGT
#
- Install
KLWP from the Play Store
- Open KLWP
- Create a test theme
- Insert a Text element with
$fd(steps)$
- Save and link your Google Fit account this way
- If successful, go back to KWGT and check if this gets linked with your Google Fit account as well
By default a lot of Widgets will open the Editor on touch, this is just because by default the touch action associated with the entire widget is to open the editor, to change that behaviour just do the following:
- Open KWGT editor
- Go to the “touch” tab
- Remove or set to disabled the touch action associated with opening the editor
In general you can change ANY touch action going to the editor int he root and selecting the “Shorcuts” tab where you find all the events triggered by the root or any other inner module.
...Getting a glitch or a noise when rendering KLWP
#
When applying a theme on some devices, you will end up getting a distorted live wallpaper. You will either get distorted elements or some sort of “noise” on the screen (see screenshots below for reference). This has something to do with rendering. To get around this, turn on the “Disable Parallel Rendering” setting in the app using the steps below.

Steps
#
- Open KLCK editor
- Make sure you’re in edit mode
- Open the side menu
- Enable the “Lock Screen” toggle switch

Why KLCK needs to display a Notification?
#
Kustom to work properly needs to be always running, the notification can be disabled by removing Kustom from battery optimized apps, a full explanation is available
here.
...Kustom app is showing the wrong Next Alarm
#
When using $si(alarmt)$
or any of the alarm related formulas, the Kustom app will display some semingly random values which you can’t find in your Alarm app. There are a couple of reasons why this happens.
First, you might be using a 3rd party alarm or clock app that’s not supported. Always reference to the default Clock/Alarm app of your device as most of them are compliant and therefore compatible.
...Kustom is using a lot of data
#
So the app itself doesn’t use data usually except for weather which shouldnt use almost any. What can use a LOT of bandwidth are presets using live map as background or internet downloaded images, depending on the preset they might have used accurate location to get the image and that might cause the image to update a lot, there quite a few solutions to this if you want to still use those presets:
...There are times when your KWGT widget seems to be stuck. The data on it, like time or weather, is not changing or delayed. When this happens, you can check on the following.
First, make sure that KWGT is allowed to run in the background as a service and is not being blocked by some optimization tools. This includes your device’s own battery optimization functionality. Other 3rd party apps like Greenify, Purify, or Samsung’s Smart Management can also cause this kind of issue.
...There are cases where your music controls are not working properly. There are a couple of reasons why this happens. Make sure to check the following to ensure that the Kustom app has all the right permission and requirements.
Kustom has access to Notifications (it should ask you when you save). To manually set/check, for most Android devices, go to your device’s settings » Apps » Overflow icon » Special access » Notification access.

SSID Shows UNKNOWN
#
Android 8.1 or greater requires Location access to show the SSID, if an app has not that permission granted then it will not be able to access the WiFi network name. So if you see “unknown” displayed as the wireless SSID name then please
- Ensure that Kustom has Location access, long press on Kustom app icon from the launcher, select “info” then “permissions” and grant Location to it.
- Ensure you did not disable Location services (check the status bar options)
- If you have Android 10 or later ensure you gave Kustom access to Location ALL THE TIME and not ONLY WHEN RUNNING, this is also required to display the SSID
