Kustom Booster Plugin#

The Kustom Booster Plugin (kbooster) restores features that cannot be included in Google Play builds of Kustom apps due to Play Store policy restrictions.

What does kbooster provide?#

• Unread counters: SMS, missed calls, and Gmail unread counts (replaces the old kunread plugin)
• Fitness data: Steps, calories, distance, heart rate, sleep, and more via Health Connect (the $fd()$ function)

Why is this needed?#

Google Play policies restrict access to SMS and call permissions, and the Health Connect integration requires a compliance process that prevents Kustom from including it directly in Play Store builds. The kbooster plugin runs as a separate sideloaded app that provides these features to Kustom.

AOSP builds of Kustom (available from the downloads page) already include all features natively and do not need kbooster.

How to install#

1. Download the latest kbooster APK from the download page
2. On your device, enable “Install from unknown sources” for your browser when prompted
3. Open the downloaded APK to install it
4. Grant the requested permissions (SMS, calls, Health Connect) when prompted

Once installed, Kustom apps (KWGT, KLWP, KLCK) will automatically detect the plugin — no additional configuration is needed.

Replacing kunread#

If you previously had the kunread plugin installed, kbooster replaces it entirely. Kbooster includes all the same unread features plus fitness data. You can uninstall kunread after installing kbooster.
